OLLU Battles No. 20 Jaguars in Three-Game Series
San Antonio, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake Saints closed out a three-game conference series against the Texas A&M University–Victoria Jaguars with competitive efforts across all contests, earning one victory while showcasing consistent offensive production throughout the weekend.
The series opened with a 9–5 setback despite a strong showing at the plate. The Saints collected 11 hits, highlighted by Benjamin Hovda's two-hit performance that included a triple and two runs scored. Jack Kalisky added a double as part of a two-hit outing, while Joshua Milton drove in two runs. Jacob Cueva also recorded two hits and an RBI. Donovan Gamez worked six innings on the mound, but the Jaguars used a 14-hit attack, including four RBIs from Roberto Olguin, to secure the opener.
Our Lady of the Lake responded in game two with a 6–5 victory. Hovda delivered in key moments, driving in four runs and swiping two bases. Jacob Cueva continued his productive weekend with a three-hit performance, and Diego Zuniga contributed two hits and an RBI. On the mound, Josh Ruiz earned the win after allowing one run over 3.1 innings. Nolan Nicholson provided critical relief, striking out five across 2.2 innings to help preserve the lead.
In the series finale, the Saints were held to six hits in a 7–1 loss. Joshua Milton accounted for the team's lone RBI and added a stolen base. Starting pitcher Omar Rodriguez turned in a solid outing, allowing just one run over seven innings while keeping the Jaguars off balance. However, A&M–Victoria broke through late, scoring six runs in the ninth inning to pull away.
Across the three games, the Saints demonstrated offensive balance and timely execution, particularly in their game two win. Cueva and Milton provided steady production throughout the series, while Hovda's impact in the middle game proved decisive. On the mound, Rodriguez's seven-inning effort in the finale and Ruiz's relief performance in game two highlighted the staff's ability to compete deep into games.
Our Lady of the Lake will look to build on the positives from the series as conference play continues. The Saints will be back in action Tuesday against Nelson at 12:00 PM CDT.
