OLLU Caps Series Sweep with Coach Piker’s 100th Win

San Antonio, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake University men's baseball team completed a commanding three-game sweep of the University of the Southwest, pairing explosive offense with timely pitching to secure victories of 16–0, 5–4, and 5–3. The series finale also marked a significant milestone, as the win secured Head Coach Matt Piker's 100th victory of his career at OLLU.

The Saints opened the series with a decisive statement, overwhelming Southwest 16–0 behind an offensive surge and dominant pitching. OLLU produced 11 hits and drew eight walks, capitalizing on nearly every opportunity. Benjamin Hovda set the tone with two hits and two RBIs, while CaliEvan Billela-Barstow scored three runs and consistently pressured the defense. Jack Kalisky delivered one of the most complete performances of the year, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and six RBIs. Diego Zuniga added two hits and two RBIs as the Saints built an early advantage and never looked back.

On the mound, Donovan Gamez was in complete control. He worked all seven innings, scattering seven hits while striking out nine and issuing just one walk. Southwest managed base runners but was unable to string together offense against the Saints starter and steady defensive play.

Game two provided a more competitive test, but OLLU executed in key moments to secure a 5–4 victory and clinch the series. Kalisky remained a consistent presence in the lineup with a double and two RBIs. Jacob Cueva and Joshua Milton each contributed timely hits, while Brett Atkinson added two hits and an RBI. The Saints' patience at the plate resulted in eight walks, helping generate scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Omar Rodriguez delivered 7.1 innings on the mound, limiting Southwest's damage despite scattered hits, including a triple from Dong Joon Shin and a double from Jackson Anderson. Nolan Nicholson closed out the final 1.2 innings, striking out four to preserve the narrow lead and earn the win.

In the finale, OLLU completed the sweep with a composed 5–3 victory. Southwest pushed across three runs, highlighted by doubles from Mark Gonzales and Alesandro Morrison and an RBI from Alex Montiel. The Saints responded with timely situational hitting. Christian Martinez drove in two runs, and Hovda added two RBIs of his own. Joshua Milton reached base three times and scored twice, while Aiden Gonzalez delivered a key extra-base hit to spark the offense.

Noah Ferraro earned the win after allowing three runs, two earned, over four innings. Xavior Salazar stabilized the middle innings with three scoreless frames, and Christian Perez closed the game with two strong innings to record his fifth save. Behind them, the Saints defense turned multiple double plays to extinguish potential rallies.
