Bio
RYAN CHAPA begins his 5th season on the Saints coaching staff and 4th season as the Full-Time Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator. Chapa currently serves as the Infield Coach, Offensive and Defensive Coordinator, and assists with strength and conditioning duties.
In every year under Chapa’s leadership, the Saints have qualified for the postseason and earned ABCA Academic Team Excellence and NAIA Scholar Team awards.
In 2025, The Saints finished 30-23, tied for 3rd place in the regular season and qualified for the Semi-Finals of the RRAC Conference Tournament.
Chapa helped lead the Saints to record the highest team batting average in a single-season (.304), most team hits in a single-season (502), and the highest team single-season fielding percentage (.966%). Jack Kalisky broke the single season record for Hits (77), Home Runs (15) and tied his own single season record for Runs Batted In (73). Kalisky also set program records for Career Homeruns (35), Runs Batted In (188), and Slugging Percentage (.640%). Kalisky also tied Chapa’s Single-Game hit record (5), and most home runs in a single game (2). Joshua Milton set the single season Batting Average Record with an outstanding .443 Average and currently holds the program record for Career On-Base Percentage with a .493%. Gavin Machado tied Holiday’s Single-Season Triples record with 8.
All-Conference Award winners included: Jack Kalisky (1st Team), Donavan Gamez (2nd Team), Devin Benavides (2nd Team), Joshua Milton (2nd Team), Gavin Machado (2nd Team). Carlos Gusman was the RRAC Gold-Glove winner at 3rd Base. Jack Kalisky won RRAC Player of the Week February 25), and Joshua Milton won RRAC Player of the Week (April 13),
The OLLU Coaching Staff was recognized by the San Antonio Area High School Baseball Coaches Association for Collegiate Coaching Staff of the Year in December 2024.
In 2024, The Saints finished 28-24 overall and 16-14 in conference. The Saints broke the single season program record and led the RRAC in Triples (23) and HBP (86).
Caimyn Holiday broke the single season record for Triples (8) and set the career triple record (11). Jack Kalisky set the career slugging percentage record (.625%). Kobey Allison tied the record for most RBIs in a game (8) and Home Runs in a Game (2).
All- Conference Award winners included: Devin Benavides (1st Team), Jack Kalisky (1st Team), Caimyn Holiday (2nd Team), and Chase Dunn (2nd Team). Noah De La Riva won the RRAC Gold-Glove award as Pitcher. Kobey Allison was named to the RRAC All-Tournament Team. Diego Zuniga took home the honor of Red River Character Athlete of the Year. Jack Kalisky won RRAC Player of the Week (Feb 25).
In 2023, Chapa led the Saints to a 30-20 overall record and a 20-9 conference record, finishing in 3rd place in the RRAC.
The Saints tied the program record for highest fielding percentage (.964%) While the offense slugged for the program record for home runs in a season (34) and set the mark for team slugging percentage (.440%). Caimyn Holiday set the single season record for runs (55). Jack Kalisky set the single season record for home runs (13) and Runs Batted In (73).
All-Conference Award Winners Included: Alec Martinez (1st Team), Josh Mendez (1st Team), Jack Kalisky (2nd Team), and Caimyn Holiday (2nd). Kalisky also won RRAC Freshman of the Year and RRAC Player of the Week (May 1). Mendez was a member of the RRAC Gold Glove team as a Pitcher.
Chapa’s coaching career began in the 2021-2022 season, where he served as the part-time assistant coach under former Head Coach Bryan Aughney. Chapa helped guide the Saints to a 31-24 overall record and a 3rd place finish in the Red-River Athletic Conference with a 22-11 conference record.
Chapa assisted with a lineup that set multiple offensive records for a single season: Runs (394), Doubles (106), Home Runs (28), Runs Batted In (342), Total Bases (671), Slugging Percentage (.432), Walks (307), and On-Base Percentage (.425%).
Jacob Mitchell Set the Program Career Record for Home Runs (26), Walks (168), and set Single-Season Marks for Home Runs (12), Slugging Percentage (.745%), Runs Batted In (53). Brandon Betancourt Set the single season On-Base Percentage record (.538%) and tied Chapa’s Single-game hit record (5).
All-Conference Award Winners Included: Robert Arredondo (1st Team), Jacob Mitchell (1st Team), and Brett Vasquez (1st Team). Brandon Betancourt won RRAC Freshman of the Year Honors. Jacob Montejano was the RRAC Gold-Glove Team winner at 2nd Base,
Chapa was a member of the Saints Baseball program from the 2018-2021 seasons. He was a 4-year starter at 2nd Base for the Saints and was a member of the program’s first ever RRAC Regular Season Conference Championship Team in 2021. During his senior campaign, the Saints won a program record 34 games, The 2021 Saints made the program’s first ever NAIA Opening Round appearance and were the first OLLU Baseball team to appear in the Top 25, reaching #21 in the NAIA polls. His teams made the postseason every year except in 2020, when the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his time as a Saint, Chapa earned RRAC Champions of Character recognition in 2019, NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2021 and RRAC Scholar-Athlete awards in all four years from 2018-2021. He is 4th all-time in career assists with 221, and 5th in a season for sacrifice hits with seven. In March 2020, Chapa recorded a program record of five hits in a single game.
Chapa received his Bachelor of Arts in History from OLLU with a CE 7-12 in December 2020. He received his Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in August 2023.
Chapa is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas. He Graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School in 2017. Chapa was a 4-year letter-winner for the Warriors, earning All-District and All South Texas Honors as a middle infielder.
