DENTON, TEXAS (March 25, 2023) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) participated in the American College Championship on Saturday. The events were hosted by the American Dance/Drill Team (ADTS) at the University of North Texas and the competitive dance team competed in three events.

Head Coach Crystal Brock commented, "Today's performance was a great example of OLLU Spirit's resilience, hard work and community. Surrounded by many of the state's greatest dances in the collegiate market, OLLU shined and left a great impression on the judges and future Saints attending the ADTS High School Nationals and Collegiate Championship. Our dancers have grown in skill and improved technically as a team. Our performance quality is becoming stronger, as well as our staging and musicality. I am pleased with our performance this week, but prouder of our second place Academic Champion award. Our students strive to be great role models, athletes and scholars. We serve a great purpose and do so with humility."

The team took third place in the Division III Team Performance and the second spot in the Collegiate Academic Championship. They finished the competitions by placing fourth in the Division III Overall. 

Representing OLLU were Madicela Perez, Madison Smith, Alynna Gutierrez, Yasmine Escobar and Maya Jay.
