WACO, TEXAS (Jan. 2, 2023) – Rob Gil of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) was named the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance over the dates of Dec. 26-Jan.1. This is the ninth conference award of the 2022-2023 men's basketball season. 

Gil posted a game-high 23 points in the Saints' 99-80 win over North American University on New Year's Day. The junior guard from San Antonio was 9-of-12 from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Gil also led OLLU with 17 points in an 88-74 loss to NCAA Division I school Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The Saints hold at 3-3 in conference play and improve to 8-6 overall.
