OLLU Battles Wayland Baptist Down to the Wire
San Antonio, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake men's basketball team battled through a competitive contest against Wayland Baptist but came up just short in a 72–68 decision. OLLU showed resilience throughout the game, staying within reach with balanced scoring and strong interior play, but timely baskets and rebounding from Wayland Baptist proved to be the difference down the stretch.
Arthur Celestin Jr. led the Saints with a strong performance inside, finishing with 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds while anchoring the paint on both ends. Jaydin Morin-Bishop provided an offensive spark from the perimeter, knocking down three three-pointers on his way to 13 points, while also adding three steals on defense. Barack Holland came off the bench to contribute 11 points, and Mike Aiken was efficient in limited minutes, scoring 10 points on a perfect shooting night. Kenyon Elliott orchestrated the offense effectively with six assists and seven points, helping keep OLLU's attack organized against Wayland Baptist's pressure.
OLLU shot 41.5 percent from the field and remained competitive on the boards, but struggled to find consistency from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line. Wayland Baptist capitalized on second-chance opportunities and received key contributions from its bench, including a game-high 17 points from Jamari Lawrence. Despite the loss, the Saints showed depth, energy, and defensive effort that kept the game close until the final minutes, providing positives to build on as the season continues.
The Saints will be back in action on January 3rd at 3:00 PM CDT against rival TAMUSA.
