SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 28, 2024) – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer suffered a hard loss at home against Jarvis Christian University in a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) matchup. The 2-0 loss moves the Saints to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in conference, while Jarvis moves to 3-4-1 and 2-1-1 in conference.

History

The Saints are 9-1-1 against the Bulldogs. This was the first loss for the Saints against Jarvis since 2014. The teams tied last season 0-0.

Game highlights

The Saints logged four shots in the first half, while OLLU keeper Dominic Pena saved two. One shot got past Pena in the 34th minute from JCU's Cesar Hernandez on a pass from Daniel Sierra. The beginning period also saw two yellow cards against the Bulldogs, plus nine fouls.

In the second half, the Bulldogs added one more goal in the 48th minute.

Despite the loss, the Saints put up a good fight, totaling 10 shots in the game, while the Bulldogs took 13. The Saints had one more corner kick than JCU with four. Jarvis was called with 19 fouls, while OLLU had four in each half.

Pena had two saves for the Saints, and JCU keeper Victor Morales had six.

What's next

The Saints will travel to the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M., on Oct. 3 and then to Dallas on Oct. 5 for a game against Paul Quinn College.
