Saints Fall On Road In Pineville

Pineville, LA- The Our Lady of the Lake University men's soccer team battled hard on the road but fell 3–0 to Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana, on a tough night where the Saints couldn't quite find their rhythm in the final third. Despite the scoreline, OLLU showed effort and grit throughout the match, pushing forward until the final whistle.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the 26th minute, capitalizing on a rare defensive lapse to slip one past goalkeeper Zak Averns. OLLU responded with energy, creating several chances of their own, but their efforts were denied by strong goalkeeping and a bit of misfortune in front of goal. The Saints nearly equalized moments later, but a close-range shot was tipped wide.

Louisiana Christian doubled their lead in the 39th minute, converting a quick counterattack to make it 2–0 heading into halftime. The Saints regrouped at the break and came out pressing higher, determined to turn momentum their way. They managed to create a few dangerous looks, recording 10 total shots and earning four corner kicks, but the finishing touch remained elusive.

At the 63:01 mark, LCU added a third goal to put the game out of reach, though OLLU refused to back down. Averns remained sharp in goal, facing eight shots on target and making five strong saves to keep the score respectable. His composure and leadership in the back line helped steady the Saints through heavy pressure.

With the loss, the Saints move to 2–9–2 overall and will look to bounce back when they play away at Southwest next Thursday. The group remains focused, driven, and ready to prove themselves.
