OLLU Men’s Tennis Concludes Season with Narrow 4–3 Loss
Kansas City, MO- The Our Lady of the Lake University men's tennis team competed in a closely contested dual match against William Woods University, ultimately falling 4–3 in a match defined by narrow margins and momentum shifts across both doubles and singles play.
William Woods secured the early advantage by claiming the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Melo and Burton defeated Nuziere and Castro, 6–3. The Saints dropped the No. 2 doubles match as Hajek and Horton earned a 6–4 victory over Majsajdr and Prod'homme. The No. 3 doubles pairing of Gailey and Costa was tied at 5–5 before going unfinished once the point had been decided.
Trailing 1–0, OLLU responded in singles competition. At No. 1 singles, Majsajdr delivered a strong performance, earning a 6–4, 7–5 victory to put the Saints on the board. Costa followed at No. 2 singles with a 6–4, 6–3 win, leveling the overall score and shifting momentum.
William Woods regained the lead at No. 3 singles, where Burton defeated Prod'homme in three sets, 4–6, 6–3, 6–1. OLLU answered again at No. 5 singles, as Nogueira secured a 6–2, 6–4 victory to keep the match within reach.
The decisive stretch came in the remaining matches. Guadagni defeated Fusaro 6–3, 6–4 at No. 4 singles to give William Woods another point. At No. 6 singles, Ooka closed out the match with a 6–3, 6–2 win over Nuziere, securing the 4–3 team victory.
OLLU showed resilience throughout the contest, particularly in singles play with three victories and multiple competitive sets. The Saints finish the season 10-8 overall.
