WACO, TEXAS (April 25, 2023) - Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week have been announced for the dates of April 17-23 with this week's honorees including Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) Jose Zarate (track) and Jonathan Sanchez (field). This is the seventh and final set of RRAC track & field weekly awards for the 2023 outdoor season.

Zarate placed fifth overall in the men's 1,500-meter run at Rice University's J. Fred Duckett Twilight Invite on Saturday. The graduate long distance runner from Mentone Beach, Calif., set a new OLLU record with a time of 14:56.41. 

Sanchez established a new school record in the javelin with a mark of 55.54 meters. The graduate thrower from McAllen, Texas, qualified for the NAIA national championships by achieving the national "B" standard.
