OLLU Men’s and Women’s Teams Finish Second with Multiple Titles at RRAC Championships

New Orleans, LA- At the Red River Athletic Conference Championships, the Our Lady of the Lake University track and field program delivered a composed and competitive performance marked by depth across multiple event groups. Facing a strong field of conference opponents, OLLU demonstrated consistency in scoring positions while securing several individual and relay titles.

In the sprint events, the Saints showed steady contributions. Yvann Agah led OLLU in the 100 meters with a fifth-place finish in a tightly grouped final, while Troy Stinson and Houston Ifah added additional placements. In the 200 meters, Jesus Riefkohl-Delgado recorded a season-best performance to lead the team, with Julian Verastegui and Agah contributing as well. The 400 meters saw Verastegui finish fourth, providing one of the stronger results in the sprint group, while Edgar Zuniga gained valuable championship experience.

OLLU's middle-distance group was a primary source of success. In the 800 meters, Jose Perez secured the conference title with a time of 1:54.45, narrowly ahead of teammate Joshua Veliz, who placed second. Isai Moran added a fourth-place finish, and Joseph Gonzalez contributed additional points, giving OLLU one of the most productive events of the meet.

The success continued in the 1500 meters, where Jose Saucedo controlled the race to earn another championship. Anthony Alaniz followed with a second-place finish, while Andrew Ruiz and Joel Telles added strong performances to reinforce the team's depth. In the 3000 meters, Saucedo claimed his second title of the meet, leading a group that included Telles, Ruiz, and Ryan Aldana, all finishing among the top five.

In the 5000 meters, OLLU remained competitive, with Alaniz finishing third and Aldana and Telles placing among the top contenders. These results highlighted the program's strength in distance events and its ability to maintain performance across multiple races.

The hurdles added another highlight for OLLU. Damien DeLeon won the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best performance, demonstrating technical efficiency and composure. He also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, contributing additional points. Beau Lewis supported the effort with performances in both hurdles and field events.

In relay competition, the 4x100 meter team of Sean Lin, Troy Stinson, Houston Ifah, and Yvann Agah placed second with a time of 41.13, reflecting strong execution in exchanges and acceleration phases. The 4x800 meter relay team delivered a championship performance, as Joshua Veliz, Joseph Gonzalez, Jose Perez, and Isai Moran combined to win in 7:40.00, controlling the race through consistent pacing.

Field events provided additional scoring opportunities. Willis Thibeaux placed second in the long jump, while Emmanuel Reyes secured second in the javelin. Contributions from other athletes added to the overall team total and reflected continued development in these areas.

On the women's side, OLLU also produced a number of competitive results. Alex Wells placed fourth in the 100 meters and followed with a second-place finish in the 200 meters. In the 400 meters, Sadie Romero earned a runner-up finish, with Morghan Neely adding depth in the event.

The women's middle-distance group mirrored the men's success. Liliana Hernandez placed second in the 800 meters, with Monica Sanchez finishing third. In the 1500 meters, Zaddie Santa Cruz secured the conference title, leading a group that included Daylah Vega, Leilani Leza, and Claudia Lopez, all finishing in scoring positions.

In longer distance events, Leza, Vega, Lopez, and Jocelynn Reyes contributed strong performances in the 3000 meters. The 5000 meters saw Leza finish second, followed by Vega and Lopez, further demonstrating the team's depth.

The women's 4x800 meter relay team of Liliana Hernandez, Mia Curiel, Madison Perez, and Monica Sanchez captured the conference title with a time of 9:27.00, maintaining control throughout the race.

Additional field event performances included a second-place finish from Jadae Freeman in the long jump and a podium finish from Jeslynn Flores in the high jump.

Overall, Our Lady of the Lake University delivered a balanced and disciplined performance at the conference championships. With multiple individual titles, relay victories, and consistent scoring across events, the program demonstrated both competitive strength and continued progress within the conference.
