SAN ANTONIO (April 14, 2021) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) softball team swept the two-game series against Trinity University (TU) on Tuesday. The Saints are now 17-16 this season.

Head Coach Bruce Lenington said, "Tonight was one of our best team efforts of the year. We were strong in the circle and on defense. We also got some timely hits throughout the night."

Game one

Ciera Martinez (SR/San Antonio, Texas) had a superb start in game one. She struck out six batters and allowed only two hits in 5.1 scoreless innings. Kaili Luna (FR/Converse, Texas) tallied two RBIs by brining in Madison Nunn (JR/Cibolo, Texas) in the second inning and Aileen Campos (SO/Robstown, Texas) in the fourth inning. Trinity cut the Saints lead to 2-1 after an RBI double by Jordyn Williams. Angela Ramirez (JR/Converse, Texas) relieved Martinez in the sixth inning and eventually secured the Saints 2-1 victory. The Saints tallied 10 hits, with three coming from Joanna Gonzalez (JR/San Benito, Texas).

Game two

Ariel Montgomery (JR/Castroville, Texas) carried Martinez's momentum on the mound into game two. Montgomery pitched 5.1 innings and allowed one run on five hits. The Saints struck first with a single from Gonzalez that scored Julissa Moreno (SO/Austin, Texas). They scored two more runs in the third inning and three in the seventh inning to win 6-1. OLLU tallied double-digit hits again with 11. Moreno batted 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Saints return to Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play when they visit Texas A&M University-San Antonio on April 17 for a two-game series. OLLU will host the Jaguars the following day for another two-game series.
