WACO, TEXAS (March 21, 2023) – Cassandra Valdez of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) was selected as the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 13-19. This is the seventh set of weekly awards for the 2023 softball season.

Valdez picked up two wins and a save in a 4-0 week for the Saints. The senior from Brownsville, Texas, allowed four hits and no earned runs over seven innings for a 3-1 victory over Louisiana Christian University (LCU). Valdez then delivered seven innings of work in a five-hit shutout over Xavier University of Louisiana. She also earned a save while allowing just one hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief in the second game against LCU. For the week, Valdez struck out 24 hitters in 15 2/3 innings. She leads the RRAC in wins (12) and strikeouts (125). OLLU is ranked seventh nationally and currently is 10-0 in conference play with a record of 24-4 on the season.
