WACO, TEXAS (April 9, 2024) – Cassandra Valdez of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) was named the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 1-7. This is the 10^th set of weekly winners for the 2024 RRAC softball season.

Valdez won three games for the top-ranked Saints last week, two as a starter and one in relief. The graduate right-hander from Brownsville, Texas, also added a save while appearing in a fourth game. She struck out 29 batters while allowing no earned runs and only seven hits in 16 innings of work. Valdez now leads the nation with a 0.43 ERA and is second in strikeouts with 184. OLLU should maintain its No. 1 spot in the nation at 41-1 with a conference mark of 18-0.

This is Valdez's seventh out of 10 weeks that she has won the Pitcher of the Week award.
