Saints Fall Short To Rams
San Antonio, Texas- From the opening tip, the Saints worked to control the glass and disrupt rhythm. Shayla Dede set the tone, battling on the boards and finishing with 12 points and 8 rebounds while providing steady minutes on both ends. Her composure helped OLLU settle in whenever Texas Wesleyan threatened to pull away. Samantha Fields carried much of the scoring load from the perimeter, knocking down three triples and finishing with a team-high 13 points. Even when shots didn't fall consistently, she continued to find ways to attack and keep the Saints within reach.
Inside, Alexandra Westerdijk Martin and Anissa Cardona combined for 12 points and 12 rebounds, each making timely plays to slow the Rams momentum. Westerdijk Martin's four assists highlighted OLLU's willingness to move the ball and find high-percentage looks, while Cardona brought an assertive presence off the bench, scoring six points and fighting for four boards. Amya Miller-Singleton added another six points with strong finishes around the rim, helping the Saints maintain their energy in key stretches.
Defensively, OLLU forced Texas Wesleyan into moments of discomfort, collecting four blocks and contesting shots in the paint. But Phillips proved difficult to contain, pouring in 24 points. The Saints countered with disciplined rebounding, 38 total and tried to limit second-chance opportunities.
Where the Saints struggled was in taking care of the ball. Twenty-seven turnovers made it difficult to sustain runs, and each giveaway gave new life to the Rams. Evangeline Hernandez and Zariah Todd chipped in with confident guard play, combining for eight points and contributing defensively with steals and pressure that kept the Saints within striking distance.
Even as the clock wound down, OLLU continued to push, getting a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the line from Aniyah Andrews and steady ball movement that generated open looks. The effort on the boards, outrebounding Texas Wesleyan 38–35, reflected the team's physicality throughout the night.
In the end, Texas Wesleyan's shooting and OLLU's turnovers created the final separation. The Saints will look to bounce back November 29th against rival TAMUSA at 1:00 PM CDT.
