Saints Tame Stallions On The Road

Houston, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake University women's basketball delivered a composed and authoritative performance to secure a 76–72 victory over North American, showcasing balance, resilience, and control on both ends of the floor.

OLLU set the tone early with efficient offense and a strong presence in the paint, finishing the game shooting 46.9 percent from the field. Alexandra Westerdijk Martin anchored the Saints with a dominant all-around effort, recording a game-high 19 points and 16 rebounds. Her work on the glass helped OLLU win the rebounding battle 42–30, a decisive factor in controlling the pace and limiting second-chance opportunities.

The Saints depth proved critical throughout the contest. Amya Miller-Singleton provided an immediate spark off the bench, scoring 12 points while adding six rebounds in just nine minutes. Macie Smith also delivered a strong reserve performance, contributing 11 points and knocking down two three-pointers to maintain offensive momentum. Shayla Dede added 11 points in the starting lineup, while Samantha Fields chipped in nine points and steady perimeter defense.

OLLU's ball movement and composure were evident, as the team totaled 20 assists and consistently created high-quality scoring opportunities. Defensively, the Saints applied pressure that forced North American into 23 turnovers, converting those mistakes into key points that kept OLLU in control during critical stretches.

North American made several runs behind Savannah Velazquez and Akyra Hodges, but OLLU responded each time with timely rebounding, disciplined execution, and poise at both ends of the court. Despite North American's perimeter shooting, the Saints' interior strength and balanced scoring ensured they maintained the edge late.

The victory reflected OLLU's complete team effort, combining strong leadership from the starters with impactful contributions from the bench. With control of the boards, efficient scoring, and defensive intensity, the Saints earned a well-deserved win and demonstrated why they remain a formidable presence this season. The Saints will face Huston-Tillotson at home on December 30th at 1:00 PM CDT.
