OLLU Drops Close Contest Despite Strong Rebounding Effort
San Antonio, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake Saints women's basketball team delivered a competitive and disciplined performance against Huston-Tillotson, showcasing strong rebounding, defensive effort, and balanced contributions despite falling 53–47. The Saints finished with a rebounding advantage, 45–37, highlighting their commitment to controlling the paint and limiting second-chance opportunities.
Alexandra Westerdijk Martin led the Saints with a solid all-around performance, recording 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in 28 minutes. Her presence inside was key, as she collected five offensive rebounds and consistently battled through contact. Macie Smith paced the offense with a game-high 19 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and knocking down three three-pointers, providing scoring stability throughout the contest.
Shayla Dede contributed eight points, 13 rebounds, and four assists, leading the team on the glass while adding defensive pressure with two steals. The Saints defensive effort forced 13 Huston-Tillotson turnovers, while the backcourt worked to manage tempo and ball movement. Although shooting proved challenging, with the team finishing 20-of-61 from the field and 5-of-25 from three-point range, the Saints remained competitive through effort plays and defensive stops.
