Bio
Lee Williams has joined the coaching staff of Our Lady of the Lake University as the Head Coach for the Women's Soccer Team. He began his position on July 1, 2024.
Williams, hailing from Swansea, Wales, boasts an impressive soccer career. He led his college and regional representative teams as captain and was even chosen for the national team. With a coaching career spanning 25 years, he has held significant positions, including the MLS (Major League Soccer) Next/ECNL (Elite Conferences Regional League) Academy Director for the RISE Soccer Club in Houston. At RICE, he oversaw the daily operations of the ECNL program and was the primary point of contact for communications with players and parents. Prior to that, he served as a first-team assistant with the San Antonio FC (USL) and MLS Next head coach in the Pro-Academy for the U17 and 16 age groups.
He has coached at the collegiate level for 11 years, most recently with NCAA D1 University of Texas—Rio Grande Valley. He coached four professional players and one MLS draft selection. He also led NCAA D2 Lubbock Christian University and was Director of Coaching at the Republic SC in Lubbock. On the club level, Williams has coached in 34 states in the United States, as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Williams' coaching tenure at OLLU began in 2011 and was marked by significant achievements. As the graduate assistant for both the men's and women's teams, he played a pivotal role in their most successful seasons in the history of the program. His influence extended beyond the field, as he also contributed to the team's academic success, reflecting his commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes.
Williams received his Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Sciences with honors and minored in Sports Coaching Studies from the University of Worcester in Worcestershire, England. He earned a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from OLLU and marked a 4.0 GPA.
Williams and his wife Stephanie are proud parents to their two daughters, Scarlette (11) and Nia (8), and they share their home with their two beloved dogs, Bowen and Luna.
