Our Lady of the Lake Tennis Cruises to Back-to-Back Victories
Austin, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake University women's tennis team continued its strong run of form with two impressive victories, defeating Southwestern University 6–1 on the road before sweeping Concordia University Texas 7–0.
Against Southwestern University, the Saints established control early in doubles play. At the No. 1 position, A. Pisar and M. Chambon edged I. Cepeda and D. Locke 7–6, 7–5 in a tightly contested match. E. Laure and M. Peters added a 6–3 win at No. 2 doubles over K. Childs and L. Perkins, while M. Muller and C. Guerrero completed the sweep with a decisive 6–1 victory against A. Powell and K. Duncan at No. 3.
OLLU carried that momentum into singles competition. C. Guerrero delivered a commanding 6–1, 6–1 win over D. Locke at No. 1 singles, and A. Pisar followed with a 6–3, 6–2 victory against I. Cepeda at No. 2. M. Peters secured a 7–6, 7–5 decision over K. Duncan at No. 3, while E. Laure earned a 6–2, 6–2 win over L. Perkins at No. 4. The lone point for Southwestern came at No. 5 singles, where M. Chambon fell in a three-set super tiebreak to K. Childs, 7–6, 6–7, 6–10. M. Muller closed the match with a dominant 6–1, 6–1 performance over A. Powell at No. 6 singles to seal the 6–1 team victory.
The Saints followed with a dominant 7–0 sweep of Concordia University Texas. After dropping the No. 1 doubles match 6–4, Pisar and Chambon, OLLU responded emphatically. Laure and Peters claimed a 6–1 win at No. 2 doubles over A. Moreni and A. Estrella, and Muller and Guerrero blanked E. Mize and K. Albrecht 6–0 at No. 3 to secure the doubles point.
Singles play was one-sided throughout. Guerrero led the charge at No. 1 with a 6–1, 6–2 victory over J. Winkler. Pisar dominated 6–0, 6–1 at No. 2 against V. Sanchez, and Peters followed with a 6–0, 6–1 win over Moreni at No. 3. Laure posted a flawless 6–0, 6–0 result against Estrella at No. 4, Chambon earned a 6–1, 6–1 victory over K. Albrecht at No. 5, and Muller completed the sweep with a 6–0, 6–0 win against R. Branum at No. 6.
Across both matches, Our Lady of the Lake University demonstrated depth, consistency, and competitive poise, outscoring its opponents 13–1 and building strong momentum in conference and nonconference play.
