OLLU Men’s and Women’s Track Teams Battle at NAIA Nationals

Asheville, North Carolina- Competing against some of the top programs in the country, the Our Lady of the Lake University men's and women's track and field teams represented the Saints with determination and professionalism at the 2026 NAIA Outdoor National Championships, held May 19–21. The national stage brought together elite athletes from across the NAIA, and OLLU's competitors embraced the opportunity to perform under pressure while showcasing the growth of the program throughout the season.

Freshman hurdler Damien DeLeon delivered a solid performance in the men's 110-meter hurdles preliminary round finishing 14th overall. Racing in a highly competitive heat, DeLeon crossed the finish line in 14.41 seconds with a legal wind reading of +0.4 m/s. Competing at the national level as a freshman marked an important milestone in his development and provided valuable experience against some of the fastest hurdlers in the NAIA.

In the field events, senior Lawren Tanner represented the women's team in the long jump. Tanner recorded a leap of 5.30 meters (17 feet, 4.75 inches) finishing 21st. Her appearance at the national championships reflected both consistency and leadership throughout her collegiate career, as she concluded her season competing among the nation's best.

The Saints also earned a place in the men's 4x800-meter relay preliminary round, where the quartet of Gonzalez, Moran, Perez, and Veliz competed with composure and teamwork on the national stage. The relay team finished with a time of 7:45.57 and placed 24th overall.

Although freshman Willis Thibeaux was unable to compete in the men's long jump after qualifying for nationals, his qualification alone highlighted the promising future of OLLU's field events program and underscored the level of talent developing within the Saints roster.

The NAIA Outdoor National Championships served as another important chapter for Our Lady of the Lake athletics, as the Saints continued building a culture of excellence, resilience, and competitive success.
