Saints Sweep Wildcats On Day Two, Remain Perfect In Conference Play

Pineville, LA- The OLLU Saints volleyball team walked into Louisiana Christian's home court with one goal in mind, another dominant victory. After sweeping the Wildcats 3-0 the day before, they were determined to prove that their first win wasn't a fluke. The energy in the gym was electric, with both teams eager to get started, but it didn't take long for the Saints to take control.

From the opening whistle, OLLU set the pace. Mia Francis, a force at the net, was immediately in rhythm, putting away 12 kills on the day and leading her team with a level of intensity that Louisiana Christian simply couldn't match. The Wildcats, despite their best efforts, found themselves struggling to dig the ball or mount any kind of offensive pressure as the Saints surged ahead. In the first set, OLLU quickly built a lead, shutting down the Wildcats' attacks with precision blocks and solid digs. They won 25-15, and the Wildcats, though still competitive, looked rattled by the Saints' relentless energy.

In the second set, the Wildcats attempted to bounce back, but it was clear that OLLU was in complete control. Lauren Reynard, who finished with 26 assists, set up her teammates with textbook precision, each pass more perfectly timed than the last. The connection between her and the rest of the team was flawless, with Francis and her fellow attackers consistently putting the ball down. Every time the Wildcats seemed to be gaining a bit of momentum, the Saints responded with a rally of their own. OLLU's defense, led by Chanisty Villareal Bermea, was airtight. Villareal Bermea, with 19 digs to her name, was everywhere on the floor, making it nearly impossible for Louisiana Christian to break through. With their offense firing on all cylinders and their defense impenetrable, the Saints took the second set 25-17.

By the time the third set rolled around, it was clear the Wildcats were fighting for pride. They came out with more urgency, pushing the Saints to their limits. For the first time in the match, OLLU found themselves in a real battle, as Louisiana Christian fought to keep the set close. With both teams trading points in a thrilling back-and-forth, the Wildcats managed to pull within striking distance. But the Saints composure under pressure was what ultimately sealed the match. Nicole Bir's defense at the net, which included three solo blocks and two assisted blocks, was a game-changer. OLLU finished strong with a 25-22 win in the third set.

The match was over, and the Saints had completed another clean sweep. They moved to 7-7 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 4-0.

As the players packed up their gear and prepared for the long journey home, they knew this victory was just another step in their journey. Next up is an alumni game scheduled for Saturday, October 11th at 2:00 PM CDT. The Saints would get to reconnect with former players, celebrate their success, and continue building their legacy.
