SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 31, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's cross-country team opened its 2024 season at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Twilight Meet held at the Classics Elite Soccer Complex.

Head Coach Brett Charlton commented, "This was a good meet for our team to get exposure to high caliber competition. Everyone that competed today set a foundation and now has something they can build off of. Most of our returners ran faster today that they did last year at this time. That shows the growth of many of our athletes."

Leilani Leza led the way for the Saints. Her time in the 4000m was 15:31.3. Other runners included Mia Curiel with a time of 15:41, followed by Valeria Peña at 15:45, Madison Perez at 16:02, Liliana Hernandez at 16:09, Victoria Bartlett at 16:19 and Claudia Helena Lopez at 16:50.

The Saints will get set for their next meet on Sept. 13 at the UIW Invitational, which will be held at Windcrest Golf Club in Windcrest, Texas.
